Ferny Pines

In spring of 2024 I set up a plein air painting camp in a pine forest near what we call the back pond. This painting was created from drawings and painting references completed in June 2024. Painted in Norwood, LA East Feliciana Parish.

While in the woods doing reference drawing for this piece I discovered an alligator in the back pond which was our ranches first. Now we have had multiple alligator sightings in the different water bodies in the area. In the painting the pond is in the blue horizon line behind the fern.
